Happy New Year!
Throughout 2024, this newsletter will focus on sharing sector-wide labour and employment news and provide active bargaining updates during negotiations for two bargaining units. The Part-Time support staff collective agreement expires on January 31, 2024, and the Full-Time and Partial-Load academic collective agreement expires on September 30, 2024.
In this edition of the CEC newsletter, we recognize five Colleges named GTA top employers, provide an update on bargaining and the status of collective agreements.

What's going on?
Colleges Named in 2024 GTA Top Employers
Five Colleges have been named in this year’s top 100 Greater Toronto’s Top employers, 2024. This designation is based on eight criteria: Workplace, Work atmosphere and social; Health, financial and family benefits; Vacation and time off; Employee communications, Performance management; training and skills development; and Community involvement.
Congratulations to Centennial College, Durham College, George Brown College, Humber College, and Seneca Polytechnic, on being recognized as top employers in the GTA.

Bargaining Update
Part-Time Support Staff
The management and union bargaining teams have been finalized. Consultations occurred during the autumn of 2023, and mandates have been set.
The parties are scheduled to meet in Toronto on the last week of January.
The current collective agreement will expire on January 31, 2024. Until a new collective agreement is reached, the 2021-2024 one will remain in effect.
Full-Time Support Staff
We are pleased to announce that the 2022-2025 Full-Time support staff collective agreement has been officially finalized. English and French versions are available on the CEC website.
Full-Time and Partial-Load Academic Employees
The Full-Time and Partial-Load academic collective agreement expires on September 30, 2024.
