Please Vote October 15-17
The virtual polls for the CAAT-A strike vote are open until October 17 at 3:00 p.m. We urge all full-time and partial load academic employees to vote.
Make an informed choice. Before you cast your ballot in the strike vote, please read both parties proposals for yourself [it is available here].
CEC’s proposals provide breakthrough improvements to the working conditions for faculty and addresses, in a reasonable and balanced way, the key demands that the CAAT-A team brought to the bargaining table. The students and college system do not need a strike to address the CAAT-A bargaining team’s demands.
Information to consider:
- Strike votes lead to strikes. View the College bargaining history.
- Once the CAAT-A bargaining team has a strike mandate, they can take you on strike without further consultation.
- Faculty have gone on strike with a 54% strike mandate.
- CAAT-A picket lines last on average 4.25 weeks.
- 50% +1 of those who vote will determine the outcome. Make sure your voice is heard by voting.
- Students don’t deserve to have their semester interrupted for demands the CAAT-A bargaining team knows the CEC can never agree to.
The strike mandate vote will run from 12pm on Tuesday, October 15th to 3pm on Thursday, October 17th, 2024. The Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) will be facilitating this process through the Simply Voting platform, an electronic voting system. The vote will be held online or by phone. You will receive email instructions on how to cast ballots, as well as a unique elector ID number and PIN.
Please get informed, and vote.
